To ensure that we have expert guidance on the plant-based lifestyle and the type of shows that will help us grow the plant-based movement, we have set up an Advisory Committee comprised of plant-based leaders and subject matter experts across multiple disciplines and knowledge areas.
Dilip Barman has been advocating plant-based vegan lifestyles since the mid 1990s in Durham, NC. He is a certified Food for Life instructor where he teaches healthful eating through nutrition lectures and food demonstrations, leads the Triangle Vegetarian Society where he hosts the country's largest vegetarian Thanksgiving, is North American representative of the International Vegetarian Union, and on the Speaker's Bureau of the American Vegan Society. He is Executive Producer of the 'code blue' documentary about veganism to maintain/restore health, and has presented on whole food plant-based eating, vegan ethics, vegetarian organizing, as well as given cooking demonstrations, internationally.
Dilip is proud to have never repeated a dinner for his wife in the years of knowing her (since mid-2004) and blogs about his nightly dinner creations at dilipdinner.blogspot.com. He works with elementary and middle schools, and has created a Healthy Snack Program to provide whole food plant-based snacks and meals, as well as nutrition education, to students.
Sarina Farb has already worn many hats in her 25 years on this planet. But no matter what hat she is currently wearing, she is always using her skills to educate and advocate for a peaceful, just, and sustainable world. Having been born and raised vegan in Kansas, she has a lifetime of experience speaking about veganism and dealing with criticism and pushback.
After conducting her own molecular biology research project in high school and winning a spot in the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair, Sarina also became hooked on science. Sarina attended Grinnell College where she earned degrees in biochemistry and policy studies. While at Grinnell she also founded and led a vegan group that organized numerous educational events and campaigns.
Katrina Fox is an award-winning journalist, PR consultant, founder of VeganBusinessMedia.com, host of Vegan Business Talk podcast and author of Vegan Ventures: Start and Grow an Ethical Business, the first global book providing success strategies for aspiring and existing vegan business owners. She has written extensively for niche and mainstream media for 18 years on animal advocacy and ethical business and was a regular Forbes contributor specializing in writing about vegan and plant-based businesses. A vegan of 22 years, Katrina teaches vegan business owners how to do their own PR and get free media coverage through her signature online course and group coaching program, Vegans in the Limelight. She loves glitter, bling and disco.
Helene Greenberg is the Founder and Executive Director of Triangle Vegfest, which she started in October 2014, and she expanded her events to other states along the east coast to help spread the vegan message and offer vendors and speakers a platform to reach as many people as possible. She helps educate communities about easy ways to reap the health benefits of a plant-based diet, provides a marketplace for vegan-friendly businesses to promote their offerings, and encourages local restaurants to offer vegan menu options.
Helene has a Masters of Education from American Public University with a specialization in school counseling, as well as extensive experience in sales, project management and real estate.
Helene provides outsourced marketing management solutions for businesses and currently manages social media for over 20 different colleges and universities. She enjoys developing and implementing creative strategies for businesses to increase online engagement and brand awareness.
Helene has a passion for helping animals and people. She has also gone into classrooms to teach high school students about the environment, health, and animal welfare. She is an avid hockey fan and enjoys spending time with her five fur kids, Morgan, Lady, Marshal, Rocky, and Frannie
Michael Greger, M.D. FACLM
Dr. Greger is a physician, New York Times bestselling author, and internationally recognized speaker on nutrition, food safety, and public health issues. A founding member and Fellow of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, Dr. Greger is licensed as a general practitioner specializing in clinical nutrition. He is a graduate of the Cornell University School of Agriculture and Tufts University School of Medicine. In 2017, Dr. Greger was honored with the ACLM Lifestyle Medicine Trailblazer Award and became a diplomat of the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine.

Howard Jacobson, PhD
Howard Jacobson, PhD, is a health coach and educator, and co-founder and Chief of Behavioral Science at WellStart Health and Sick to Fit University. Howard is also co-founder of the WellStart Health CoachingAcademy, where he trains health coaches to help their clients gain massive traction toward their health goals.
Howard is co-author of Sick to Fit, with Josh LaJaunie, and contributing author to Whole: Rethinking the Science of Nutrition and The Low Carb Fraud, both by T. Colin Campbell, PhD, and Proteinaholic: How Our Obsession with Meat is Killing Us and What We Can Do About It, by Garth Davis, MD. He hosts the Plant Yourself Podcast, which is in its seventh year.
He lives on an ecological farm in rural North Carolina, where he writes, gardens, plays Ultimate Frisbee, runs ultra marathons, and practices Russian Martial Arts. His goals include shaking up healthcare, sharing how delicious and joyful a healthy life can be, saving the planet, and reintroducing people to their most authentic, antifragile, best selves.
Dr. Joel Kahn

Milton Mills, MD
Priyumvada Naik, MD
Priyumvada Naik, MD is a triple board certified physician in Pulmonary Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, and Lifestyle Medicine. She has additional training and expertise in Lung Transplantation, ECMO, Interstitial Lung Disease, Genetic Lung Disease, Immunology, and Nutrition.
Dr. Naik attended Duke University undergraduate then earned her medical degree at Medical College of Georgia. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency and Pulmonary, Critical Care fellowship (with a focus on lung transplantation) at Emory University, as well as a visiting fellowship in lung transplantation and ECMO at St. Vincent's Hospital, Sydney, Australia.
In the intervening years, she has founded an Advanced Lung Disease Program, co-founded a Lung Cancer Screening Program, and served as Medical Director for an Intensive Care Unit.
She has been vegan for 8 + years, and has been studying nutrition and lifestyle changes as it relates to chronic disease ever since. Going vegan inspired her to change her career trajectory, and she uses her expertise to help people control and even reverse chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, rheumatologic conditions, inflammatory bowel disease and more. She also loves inspiring her colleagues to start prescribing plant based diets over pills.
Sharon Palmer, MSFS, RDN
Sharon, The Plant-Powered Dietitian, has created an award-winning career based on combining her two great loves: nutrition and writing. Sharon is an accomplished writer, editor, blogger, author, speaker, and media expert. In particular, her expertise is in plant-based nutrition and sustainability. Sharon has authored over 1000 articles in a variety of publications, including Better Homes and Gardens, Oprah Magazine, and LA Times. Her book The Plant-Powered Diet: The Lifelong Eating Plan for Achieving Optimal Health, Beginning Today (The Experiment, July 2012) was a critical success, which was followed by her second book Plant-Powered for Life: Eat Your Way to Lasting Health with 52 Simple Steps & 125 Delicious Recipes in July 2014. She is currently working on her third book on plant- based eating due for publication in 2020. Sharon has contributed to several book chapters on nutrition and sustainability. She also serves as nutrition editor for Today’s Dietitian, judge for the James Beard Journalism Awards, nutrition consultant for many publications and organizations, speaker at conferences, and nutrition expert in the media, including print, online, radio, podcasts, television, social media, and film. Sharon enjoys organizing farm and sustainability tours across the world. And she still has time to blog every day for her popular online community (200 K members strong and growing) at The Plant-Powered Dietitian. Sharon recently completed her Master of Science in Sustainable Food Systems from Green Mountain College in Vermont, and she serves as associate faculty at both Sterling College in Vermont and Prescott College in Arizona on the topic of sustainable nutrition. Living in the chaparral hills overlooking Los Angeles with her husband and two sons, Sharon enjoys tending to her own organic garden, visiting the local farmers market every week, and cooking for friends and family.
Angela Jelita Richardson
Angela is a journalist and environmental activist based in Southeast Asia. She is the founder and chairwoman of Indonesia Indah Foundation, a non-profit organization in Indonesia that focuses on empowering people to become agents of change for the environment. She has helmed mass-scale cleanup movements in Indonesia since 2013, mobilizing millions to act against the growing plastic problem.
Angela is also a producer and presenter, currently working on a vegan travel show based in Asia. She writes for a number of publications in the region, including South China Morning Post and Eco-Business.com, and in her spare time she bridges her passions of food, health and spirituality on her platform Feed Body Spirit.
Miyoko Schinner is the fearless CEO/founder of Miyoko’s, a food brand combining culinary traditions with food technology to revolutionize dairy by making cheese and butter without cows. Through an innovative proprietary process that merges food science with old-world creamery methods, Schinner has successfully scaled the production of fermented cheese and cultured butter made from plants and replaced animal-dairy products on the shelves of more than 10,000 retailers nationwide. The pioneer of the plant-based cheese revolution, Schinner is a passionate culinarian, former restaurateur, best-selling cookbook author, co-host of the national PBS cooking show Vegan Mashup , and a founding board member of the Plant Based Foods Association. Schinner also co-founded a farmed animal sanctuary in California that provides a home to over 70 farm animals.
Doug Schmidt, a veteran teacher, suffered a widowmaker heart attack at age 49. Not wanting to spend the rest of his life on medications, he sought answers. After finding the book, “Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease” by Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn, he changed his lifetime of eating habits. He lost 60 pounds and ran his first marathon at age 58. Doug now leads the annual “Good Life Challenge” for teachers and staff for over 75 school districts and small businesses in New York. The challenge helps educate people about the benefits of plant based nutrition and was featured on Good Morning America: Being the Gifted and Talented teacher for his school district he also teaches young children how to eat healthier in his classes “You Are What You Eat”. Doug, and his wife, Shari manage the Facebook group, Eat Plants Love sharing their knowledge and expertise. Doug and Shari are finishing work on their first book, “Eat Plants Love - Recipes for a Good Life”, due out later this year.
Doug has a Masters in Special Education and has completed the Rouxbe Plant Based Professional Certification. He was formerly a professional baker who worked for one of the most prestigious grocery chains in America as their bakery trainer. He created new ideas and products for their stores.
Shawn Stratton, is the director of the International Vegan Film Festival and World Tour. He started the festival in 2018 to inspire, educate and entertain audiences with vegan-themed films from around the world. Shawn is also an international leadership and team development consultant, professional speaker, bestselling author, Ironman and Ultramarathon competitor.
Shawn has a bachelor’s degree in Experiential Education and a Master’s in Leadership. He devoted 15 years to leading teams on wilderness expeditions around the world into some of the harshest environments, and, most recently, eight years consulting with corporations on leadership and team development. His first book, Teams on the Edge: Stories & Lessons from Wilderness Expeditions, was an instant bestseller and won a bronze medal in the Global E-Book Awards.
Shawn came to veganism for health concerns after watching several influential documentaries. He and his family, including 3 young daughters, live in Ottawa and have been eating a plant-based diet since 2015.
Emilie Tan (nee Nadeau Benoit) is a plant-based athlete, born and raised in Longueuil (south shore of Montreal) Quebec, Canada. Her teenage years were filled with a passion for short track speed skating, a sport she practiced for a total of 12 years. She represented Canada at the Junior World Championships for three years in a row (2002, 2003, 2004) and competed at the 2003 Canada Winter Games in Campbellton/Bathurst, where she earned a total of 5 medals (3 Gold, 1 silver, 1 Bronze).
She travelled around and decided to settle in Melbourne, a city she now considers her home. She eventually met her now husband Luke and married in 2012. She also obtained her Australian Citizenship in 2015 and is now a proud dual Canadian and Australian citizen.
In 2012, as she was suffering from pretty debilitating digestive disorders, she decided to give a plant based diet a try. She never looked back and has been a vegan ever since. Being a big animal lover and a compassionate person, it felt right from the beginning.
Emilie was selected as part of the Australian National Team for the 2018 100km World Championships held in Croatia on September 8th 2018. She finished 36th female in a time of 8h30. She was also crowned 2018 Ladies 100km Australian Champion (Ultrarunning).
Luke is a published author, educator and the co-host of the Plant Fit Summit. Originally based in Melbourne, Australia, Luke was formerly a strength and conditioning coach for Australian Strength Performance (see testimonials).
After watching a documentary on animal cruelty, he turned vegan overnight. Having been a 1kg a day meat eating bodybuilder and strength coach, the paradigm shift in thinking challenged him to relearn what he thought he knew about food.
Luke went on to be certified in plant-based nutrition. He has then coached and brought plant-based fitness models to competition. To further advocate empowered and conscious living, Luke has since published the book “A.W.A.K.E and Alive: Harness your physical and mental potential through a plant-based lifestyle”.
As an athlete, Luke has competed as a vegan and placed in natural bodybuilding competitions in Australia, and in the US with team Plantbuilt. In 2017, he competed with Plantbuilt again as a CrossFit athlete.
In 2013 he formed Evolved Generation a brand based in Australia comprising of plant-based athletes, entrepreneurs and health professionals. Now based in Singapore Luke is also the founder of Awake Method. Both brands promote plant-based health, fitness and conscious living. His latest project was being the co-host of the Plant Fit Summit.
Luke's vision is to create a culture of fit, healthy and purpose driven fathers being the change they wish to see in the world.
Dr. Will Tuttle
Dr. Will Tuttle, visionary author, educator, and inspirational speaker, has presented widely throughout North America, Europe, and the Pacific. Author of the acclaimed Amazon #1 best-seller The World Peace Diet, published in 15 languages, he is a recipient of the Courage of Conscience Award as well as the Empty Cages Prize. The creator of several wellness and advocacy training programs, he is also co-creator of VeganPalooza, the largest online vegan event to date.
Dr. Tuttle is the author of Your Inner Islands: The Keys to Intuitive Living and is also the editor of Circles of Compassion: Connecting Issues of Justice, focusing on the interconnection of social justice issues. He is also the co-founder of the non-profit Circle of Compassion and the Worldwide Prayer Circle for Animals. A vegan since 1980, he is a frequent radio, television, and online presenter and writer. He is featured in the acclaimed documentary film Cowspiracy as well as other documentaries such as Vegan: Everyday Stories; Hope For All; and Animals and the Buddha.
Dr. Tuttle’s Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, focused on educating intuition and altruism in adults, and he has taught college courses in creativity, humanities, mythology, religion, and philosophy. A former Zen Buddhist monk and a Dharma Master in the Korean Zen tradition, he has created eight CD albums of uplifting original piano music. With his spouse Madeleine, a Swiss visionary artist, he presents extensively throughout North America and worldwide at college campuses, spiritual centers, conferences, and peace, social justice, animal protection, health, and environmental gatherings.
Gerardo "Jerry" Velez is multi-award winning musician and entertainer with seven (7) Grammy nominations, six (6) Gold and Platinum recordings, three (3) Amex Gold Reel Awards, and has been featured as a percussionist on over 200 celebrity recordings.
Mr. Velez was part of the Jimi Hendrix's band at Woodstock, and he went on to perform with such luminaries as David Bowie, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Destiny's Child, Stevie Nicks, Chaka Khan, Marc Anthony and countless others. Jasper is a social entrepreneur, TEDx speaker and photographer who is passionate about sustainable innovation and has worked on humanitarian projects in countries such as Ethiopia and Nepal. He has also worked with various brands and platforms to promote a plant-based lifestyle, including serving as Marketing Manager for VBites Foods and Heather Mills.
Jasper founded In Focus, an environmental organisation that connects with creators in locations such as India, Tuvalu, Japan and Saudi Arabia to create content revolving around sustainability. This includes developing innovative partnerships in order to transform how conservation is communicated. Jasper is also the founder of a new platform that incorporates corporate responsibility as a key aspect of the business.
A Gen X-er, Dawn was born in Yonkers, New York and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. Earning her B.A. in Political Science from Virginia State University, Dawn spent more than a decade in municipal government management & administration before stepping fulltime in her culinary & wellness brand.
Dawn’s culinary passions were stoked early on with her training beginning at the tender age of 8. From The French Chef and The Frugal Gourmet to Justin Williams, Dawn was mesmerized by the artistry, process and presentation of food. She worked out the PBS weekly show recipes in real-time with her unwitting chef-friends by lugging her black & white TV set down two flights of stairs and onto the kitchen counter where she utilized her hodge-podge of substitute ingredients sourced from her cabinets & fridge to make resemble what she saw. However, Dawn’s most impactful culinary influence revealed what the love, simplicity and personal nature of cooking looked and felt like and that was through her Great Aunt Willie Mae Boyd. From unearthing potatoes and washing greens to picking tomatoes and spreading flour across a modest folding kitchen table, Dawn learned early how to impart that soulful something into every meal by watching & occasionally getting to help her Aunt at 4:30am Sunday mornings to create veritable feasts primarily sourced right from the backyard.
With years of restaurant & small private catering events under her belt, Dawn’s path led her easily to the life of a self-taught culinarian in early 2007. Armed with a solid plan and a thriving business model, Dawn was confident that she was providing the most health-promoting, organic, grass-fed & free-range food to family and clients alike. However, after a series of family health scares and years spent watching loved ones die from preventable chronic diseases, she knew it was time to more closely examine the relationship between the foods she served, health and nutrition. After completing eCornell’s Whole Plant Based Certification Program, Dawn's philosophy about food and nutrition changed and that change was the catalyst for Dawn’s company, Herban-Eats, becoming a 100% vegan, whole-food, plant-based product and services brand in late ‘16.
